Brunswick, ME. Coyote Books. 1986. Staple bound chapbook. Condition: fine, minor wear.
Inspired by Japan's haiku masters Issa and Banshō, Deemer's natural imagery and dry, witty humor shines through his short, clever lines. Although the poems in this collection don't follow the syllable (音, 'On') structure of haiku or senryū, Deemer uses these forms as inspiration for his odes to nature and daily humor: "When it rains: listen / When it shines: leave."
