ANTONI TAPIES: O L’ESCARNIDOR DE DIADEMES ('THE SCOFFER AT DIADEMS')

"Antoni Tàpies: The Scoffer at Diadems" is an imaginative assemblage in four acts, moving it's combinations of photography, poetry, and commentary through four separate translations from an original text by the artist written in Catalan. The book is a discursive mirror: 2 texts, 4 languages, 8 essays in all, split to frame a "FOTOSCOP" at the center of the book, where a catalogue of Tàpies vivid photo reproductions seem to speak for themselves. The artist's object-oriented imagery pulls the viewer into the world's collage to consider it in pieces, testifying to the same "thingness" that this publication subtly reflects through a visual language, a presentation of our own meaning-making in constant rearrangement.
Text in Spanish, English, French, & German translations.
