An artist's book of an artist's own citations, this is a catalogue from Richard Prince's exposition of his own print bibliography. Somewhere between meta and totally ironic, Bibliothèque d'un Amateur ('Library of an Amateur') is a reminder of the ticker-tape kind of appendix that accumulates according to an artist's practice, leaving them with their own library citing their proof of life (or "proof of work"). Prince uses the language, care, and form of the catalogue to reveal the art of recording itself, in an homage to the collection, the archive, and the structures of memory that keep track, keep us in line.
