Aimé Maeght opened the Maeght Gallery at 13 Rue de Téhéran in Paris in 1945 following the end of WWII and coinciding with the subsequent bloom of the return of exiled artists to France. The first issue of Derrière le Miroir was released the next year and was published without interruption until 1982 (shortly following Aimé’s death). Each issue was unique and featured prints and writing to do with an artist who exhibited at the gallery. This brilliant issue on the Dutch geometric representationalist painter, Bram van Velde, with two oversized, full-color lithographs made at Arte Printing House.k
