This monograph is a critical survey of the artistic development of Lee Miller's over the course of her career, looking at the trajectory of her work as well as her role as an artist. Through a collection of essays and a curated catalogue of images, the publication juxtaposes the evolution of Miller's reception––from mentee/muse of Man Ray to creative collaborator to an artist in her own right––with the shifts in her work from an early Surrealism to the unflinching and radically personal impulse that would later come to characterize her wartime photography.
