For artist Sophie Green's 2019 London exhibition and subsequent publication, "Congregation," her photography of Southwark's Aladura Spiritualist African churches and congregations. Predominantly a Yoruba Nigerian congregation, the rituals and traditions and otherwise "othernesses" to British society that isolates an individual, come Sunday, the congregation returns you to the gaze of your shared cultural identity. Green's use of documentary photography seeks to capture these portraits and scenes that show the grace and resilience caught like light on sculptures.
