"My writing must bring discomfort to fools since it is aggressive, witty, and unrelenting."
–– Ronald Firbank (1886–1996)
This small-scale, grandly-named and golden-gilded “Firbankiana” is an imaginative take on the memoir genre from English writer Ronald Firbank. An openly gay and intensely shy playwright and novelist inspired by the aesthetes of 1890’s London, his text is an entertainingly third-person view of Firbank told from a first person vantage point–in this formal arrangement, he self-assesses the life, friends, mind, and impression he might have left, still leave behind . Divided into whimsical vignettes totaling 50 in all, his textual survey completes its formal function with an index to trace the notable names and figures that appear in these pages, as they had studded his life.
