One of the most renowned living painters, Peter Doig's magical realism places the viewer in various dreamscapes or memories which mingle feelings of childish wonder with a longing to be back in these places. As the Scottish-born artist explains: “All of the paintings have an element of autobiography in them, but I resist making the autobiographical readings overly specific.” The landscapes appear as places we've seen, but with Doig's trademark perspectives and colors, also capture the emotions of our time in these landscapes.
