Full canvas cloth lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. Based on the original manuscript in the British Library, these are translations of Indian fables into Persian, made by Husain ibn 'Ali Va'iz. The paintings were produced by Hindu and Muslim artists for the early Mogul emperors. The manuscript was compiled around 1610, and came to the British Museum in 1851 "by purchase.".
