Issue number 18 of "The World," a New York Literary Magazine published by the Poetry Project, a "little magazine" that began its run to carry on that publishing movement just as others like it were slowing down. According to the Poetry Project, the poems found in the magazine would most likely have come from a live reading event: "...there was a good chance that, if you heard a poem you particularly liked at a Poetry Project reading, you would find it in the magazine a few weeks later." Edited by Anne Waldman, who was head of the Poetry Project at the time, this issue was dedicated, "for Charles Olson & the Chicago 7."
This edition ft. ft. Ted Berrigan, Blaise Cendrars, Allen Ginsberg, John Giorno, Ted Greenwalkd, Bob Howell, John Koethe, Alice Notley, Ron Padgett, Peter Schjeldahl, James Schuyler, Anne Waldman, John Wieners, Rebecca Wright...and others
