The exhibition, to which this volume was the accompaniment, took its title from Albert Camus' inscription in the guest book at Klein's 1958 Void exhibition: "Avec le vide, les pleins pouvoir." This catalogue progresses through five essays, each inviting the reader into a different layer of the artist, and is punctuated by two vibrant sets of plates. It includes, not only Klein's paintings and sculptures, but also his writings, music, theater, choreography, photographs, and correspondence. 

The artist once said, "My works are only the ashes of my art"; with the help of this thorough and thoughtful book, one begins to understand the art.

Bound and edged in Yves Klein's distinctive aquamarine, it is a beautiful object in near pristine condition.
