Hanging Loose Press has published 111 issues of its loose page poetry magazine since its inception in 1966. The envelope format was inspired by an urge to disperse poetry in a format which lent itself to fleeting self-indulgence rather than the timeless lifespan sitting tucked into a bookshelf. "[P]oetry is for now, not for the Ages. If you liked a poem, you could pin it to the wall. If you didn’t like a poem, you could use it as a napkin."
