Introducing our new series of author portrait tees made in collaboration with New York-based artist (and Book/Shop favorite) Christina Zimpel. Based on paintings Zimpel made for her exhibition "Book People", held at Book/Shop Oakland in 2017, the portraits feature famous photographs of iconic writers, painted over in Zimpel's signature style. Full of color and bold lines, her work blends punk energy with a well-honed, painterly sensibility.  

This T-shirt features Zimpel's rendition of Oscar Wilde, the sparkling and tragic late-Victorian master of wit and charm. Wilde's tales, poems and plays have triumphantly outlived the vindictive culture that destroyed him in his day, and his work continues to delight millions in every language. Oscar proved that in time, Art overcomes all.
