Author Series T-Shirt: Virginia Woolf
This variant is currently sold out
Introducing our new series of author portrait tees made in collaboration with New York-based artist (and Book/Shop favorite) Christina Zimpel. Based on paintings Zimpel made for her exhibition "Book People", held at Book/Shop Oakland in 2017, the portraits feature famous photographs of iconic writers, painted over in Zimpel's signature style. Full of color and bold lines, her work blends punk energy with a well-honed, painterly sensibility.
This T-shirt features Zimpel's rendition of Virginia Woolf, the groundbreaking English author who opened the door wide for a new kind of literary feminism. Woolf changed the landscape for female authors, and broke down walls around issues of interpersonal relationships, ushering in some of the best known & loved works in 20th century literature. She was also a key member of the Bloomsbury Group, whose works & attitudes remain a thriving ideal of how art, books, and love can merge in a way true to modern life.
