The Colour Journal is a publication exploring colours within the arts and photography. The inaugural Blue Issue is not simply a means for exploring the meaning of colour but treats it as a pretext for bigger stories. We may be familiar with Henri Matisse's Blue Nude cutouts, but who can say the same about Biskra, the forgotten Algerian oasis which inspired him? The Colour Journal intends to fight the dictatorship of immediacy, bring back the depth behind pretty pictures from lifestyle magazines, excavate familiar moments in art history and reveal unpublished treasures.
