A sought-after early photobook by François Hers and Sophie Ristelhueber. Originally planned as a study of social housing in Wallonia, the project evolved into a dual portrait of domestic life: Hers photographed the interiors themselves in color, while Ristelhueber (who had initially been invited to contribute text) responded with a series of black-and-white portraits of the inhabitants.

Intérieurs was the first book by Sophie Ristelhueber, who would go on to become one of France's most important contemporary photographers. The project was also exhibited at the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1981 and has since become a cult classic among collectors of European photobooks.
