An early collection of poetry and mystical verse by Hadassah Haskale (born Judith Hadassah Davis, Brooklyn College class of 1956). Haskale is a poet, translator, and peace activist. Much of her later literary work centered on translating classic Yiddish poetry and song lyrics into English (notably translating works by Mordechai Gebirtig, Aharon Zeitlin, and Itzik Manger for publications with the Jewish Music Research Centre and Hebrew University of Jerusalem), as well as organizing cross-cultural, tri-lingual poetry initiatives aimed at fostering Israeli-Palestinian dialogue.

Written during the height of the early 1970s countercultural and spiritual revival movements, this work reflects Haskale's trademark blending of universalist metaphysics, spiritual search, and lyrical poetics, capturing the author's early voice prior to her extensive literary translation work.
