An important early catalogue documenting a pivotal exhibition in Eliasson’s career. Conceived as a succession of sensory environments employing light, sound, reflection, and natural materials, the exhibition explored the mechanisms through which physical surroundings condition perception, concerns that would become fundamental to Eliasson’s subsequent work.
Eliasson himself later described Chaque matin je me sens différent, chaque soir je me sens le même as having had “a huge impact” on his practice: for the exhibition he assumed responsibility not only for the individual works but for the architecture and sequencing of the exhibition itself, an approach that subsequently became integral to his practice.
Published the year before The Weather Project, Eliasson’s celebrated 2003 installation in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall.
The title translates as Every morning I feel different, every evening I feel the same.
