Kirsten Chen has worked both in the shop & behind the scenes at Book/Shop since the summer of 2016. A student at UC Berkeley, Kirsten is pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with focuses on art history and industrial engineering & operations research. She's also a constant world-traveller, helping out with Book/Shop events & projects in between her intense studies, long trips & internships at places like Visionaire. Thanks, Kirsten!
Brianna D'Estries is a third-year Legal Studies student at UC Berkeley who has helped at the shop since early 2017. Born in California, she was educated at a French International School, where she became fluent in the language (her French mother also helped!). Brianna loves books of lyric poetry and heady theory, and so the book she chose as part of our ongoing series [see others here!] came as no surprise. Thanks, Brianna!
Isabel Fry is an English-born student who's been helping us out in the shop while on her summer break. We couldn't let her go back to school (and away from us, alas!) without getting her book recommendation, with a few extra suggestions for enjoying her selection as part of our ongoing series...
June has worked at Book/Shop Oakland since Sept. 2015. She's a gifted photographer (which has made her an Instagram favorite), and a book-lover of the type we love to find here at the shop. Here, June kicks off our new blog series, where we ask staff, current and past, to share a book recommendation, as well as a few other recommendations for best enjoying their book of choice. Enjoy!
